Why you Should Book A family Photo Session During your Vacation

A vacation is a time to relax unwind and reconnect with your loved ones. It is also the perfect time to finally schedule those family photos you have been meaning to get around to. There are so many reasons why you should consider booking a family photo session during your visit to St. Augustine, Florida.

Why is St Augustine a great location for family photos?

St Augustine is the oldest city in the United States and the most visited too. There are a multitude of reasons why people vacation in this lovely city. The city is vibrant, filled with beautiful history and has many beautiful beaches. It has the best of both worlds in vacation. You can take in some history, walk around and sight see and relax at the plethora of beaches nearby. It is also a great city to schedule your photo session. You can schedule your portraits anywhere from the historic St George St to the Lightner Museum or on any one of the gorgeous sandy beaches in the area. The possibilities are endless.

Tips for Booking a Photo Session while visiting ST AUgustine, Florida

1) Do not wait until the last minute to book a photographer. A good photographer is typically booked weeks in advance. Although I do sometimes take clients last minute if I have availability, I always prefer to book my clients with some lead time. This allows me to get to know my clients, help them to plan their wardrobe and suggest a location that aligns with their family’s goals for the session. Peak times of the year book up fast and you also want to make sure tho have room on your photographer’s calendar for a rain date. So, once you book your flight and hotel, the next step would be to secure your North Eastern Florida family photographer.

2) Plan your wardrobe and be sure to pack it. I am completely hands on in the styling process. I will send you a detailed wardrobe guide, a custom wardrobe board and I work with you to fine tune and finalize your wardrobe before you ever step foot on that plane. Not in the mood to pack for the session? I got you! I have a complete client closet with women's dresses available to you to borrow for the session.

3) Remove your photo session outfits from your luggage and hang them the day you arrive to your hotel. If needed, iron and steam them. Do not wear the outfits until the day of the session. This is especially true for kids, who will likely stain the outfit before a session.

4) Relax the day of the session. This is super important, especially with little ones. Your session will be scheduled one hour before sunset. Thie means you have a full day prior to your session. Please take it easy the day of the session. Make sure the kids get a nap in and be sure to avoid taking in too much sun that day. A rested child is a happy child. So, don’t overbook yourself the day of your family photos.

5) Treat the session like a vacation excursion. A photo session with me is not a chore, but rather it is an experience, so treat it as such. Hype up the family and tell them you are going to a cool new place for some adventure. When you arrive, plan to let loose and enjoy this special experience with your family. I will direct and prompt you, but I am always looking to capture those natural and relaxed moments.
