Simple Studio Newborn Sessions

It is no secret that I am a big proponent of taking family photos. This is especially true for newborn photos. With that being said, I have many clients who just want a photo session that is focused on the baby alone. These clients are looking for images to hang on their walls and use for announcements. Most of these clients book a family session wither at six months or a first birthday, when moms are feeling up for family photos.

I totally understand why moms feel this way and that is why I offer a simple newborn session in my studio. The simple newborn studio session is focused on the baby alone. You get to choose a propped photos of your choice and a swaddled set up. For those clients who also want sibling photos, there is the option to add that on as well. Because props are used this session is best scheduled 7-14 days of life.

While this is a shorter session than a family newborn session, it is NOT a mini session. Propped images take quite some time to set up. The baby needs to be coaxed to sleep for a propped set up. The session will typically last anywhere from 90 minutes ot a little over 2 hours. It all depends on the baby’s disposition and if you are including siblings.

When you first arrive to the studio, I will ask you to feed the baby to encourage sleepiness. While you are feeding, we will go through your options for props, outfits and swaddles. After the baby is fed, we will move on to the propped setup. If the baby is still awake and you are including siblings, we may start with sibling photos…it all depends on the child. You will get to chill, relax and maybe even nap in my cozy studio while I capture beautiful and timeless images of your bundle of joy.

This photo session really is a wonderful option for those who don’t want a full family session and want a smaller photo package. Here is a recent photo session in my Long Beach studio that included the best four year old big brother.
