Surprise Proposal | Long Island Engagement Photographer
I recently had the privilege of being a part of a top secret surprise proposal. The groom and his family put together the ultimate surprise proposal plan that took place right here on the Boardwalk in Long Beach. When the groom's sister contacted me to see if I could photograph the engagement, I was thrilled to be a part of it and I knew that it was going to be fun filled and momentous.
I met with the groom and his sister on the boardwalk about a week before the day. This is an important step when photographing a proposal because it ensures that the day will go smoothly. I also wanted to make sure that we could find a location that would allow me the opportunity to get unobstructed images without being detected by the bride to be.
On the day of the proposal, the forecast called for torrential rains at the exact time the groom planned to propose. Thankfully, the weather changed last minute and instead of raining, it was an overcast and slightly chilly day. Ironically, this weather change truly worked in our favor because there were no crowds on the boardwalk and an overcast day creates the perfect lighting conditions for photos shot mid day.
After the proposal, we did a quick engagement mini session to get some polished portraits of the happy couple. We ended the session with the newly engaged couple greeting their patiently awaiting families at the Allegria hotel , at which the famiies had planned a surprise dinner celebration. It was so heartwarming to be a part of such a special experience and to be able to document it for this beautiful family. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
