It is hard to believe that Summer is winding down. It certainly doesn’t feel like it. The weather has been super hot, which is exactly how I like it and sunsets have been pretty darn awesome.

This recent session took place on a VERY hot and humid August evening. The weather report was all over the place and changed hourly. Although I try my best and despite my best efforts of following weather reports and watching the radar, I can’t always predict what Mother Nature will do. Thankfully, this family is super chill, went with the flow and braved the threat of thunderstorms. This evening was probably the prettiest sunset I have seen in a while.

I photographed this sweet family last year for an in home newborn session. I was thrilled to be able to work with them again for a beach family session. I always say it, but this type of session is perfect for families with young children. It allows the children the freedom to be themselves, run freely, and is conducive to natural and organic photography. Plus, who doesn’t want to spend a night on the beach and watch a gorgeous sunset?

This session was lots of fun to capture. The family is so loving with one another and I loved photographing that connection. The children are super sweet and were so happy throughout their photoshoot. Because the weather changed so much throughout the course of the session, I shot in many different lighting environments and I just love the colors of this sky. On nights when there is a threat of a storm often lead to the most epic of colors in a sunset sky. It worth the risk of uncertainty for stunning imagery.

I still have a few more weeks of beach sessions on my schedule and shoot at the beach until mid September. I have one spot left for September.
