Bring Grandma Along to your Beach Family Session
I am a sucker for photos of grandmas with their grandbabies. There is nothing more especial than the bond that exists between a grandparent and grandchild. I had an amazing relationship with my own grandparents and my children have a close bond with theirs as well. You need to document this bond not only for grandma, but so your children have these photos for years to come. The gift of a family photo session truly is meaningful for everyone in the family.
This session was initially supposed to include the entire extended family, but the other family had commitments to high school graduations and other events and could not make it. It is not always easy to plan a date for a multi generational family session, especially when there are multiple children involved. Rather than cancel, my client decided to go ahead and capture her own family with grandma and it was such a special evening.
When I tell you this family was fun…that is an understatement. I laughed throughout the session. Although I snuck in quite a few all eyes on camera pics for grandma, I also was able to capture lots of interactive moments and those in between moments I love to grab. The family’s personality realy shines through in these images and I just love it.
Mom went with a classic look of jeans and button downs and it was perfect. You don’t always need to wear a fancy dress to a photoshoot…especially if that is not your overall vibe or style. If you are going for an ultra relaxed look for your pics, then jeans paired with a button down is the way to go. Wardrobe is all about what you want hanging on your walls of your home. and of course what looks good with the backdrop of our location. The beach is a neutral location and you really can’t go wrong with a white shirt and jeans. The look is classic and will always be in style and so will beach family photos.
The evening was one of those magical nights where there was very little wind, the weather was super comfy and the sky was breathtaking. We started on the earlier side and shot a bit of this in full sun, but shot well into golden hour. I love saving golden hour for those more playful connected images. I had a blast with this family. Here are some of my favorite captures from the day.
