Why Summer is the Perfect time to Book a Photo Session
Let’s face it. Life with kids is chaotic. Between our jobs, caring for the kids, shuttling them to activities and trying to maintain the household, it can often be hard to find the time to do the things we want to do. One of the greatest things about the Summer months is that we tend to have more time. The kids after school activities are done, we schedule vacation time and we tend to unwind and relax more, which makes it the perfect time to schedule a family photo session.
If you are on vacation here on Long Island, NY, then it is also a great time to book your family portrait session on the beach. The entire family is together, both parents are off from work and you are in total relaxation mode. It makes for a perfect recipe for optimal family pictures.
This recent family is from Missouri and was staying at the Allegria hotel in Long Beach while visiting their family for the week. They were here for a memorial service and my client spent many summers in Point Lookout, NY. Her family owns multiple houses in the town and she and her cousins grew up playing on the beach ad the streets of the town. While she was here, she wanted to have photos take of her with her children at her very special and meaningful place.
This session was booked and planned in less than a week, so I had to help my client quickly build her wardrobe prior to her departure for Long Island. I helped her by sending links to outfits from Amazon and Old Navy and she was packed and ready for her shoot within an hour. I like to keep things as simple and stress free as possible for my clients, so I am always happy to plan the wardrobe for them. I even have a client closet stocked with dresses for moms to borrow for the session.
The night of this session was in the middle of a heat wave here in NY. It was 90+ degrees on the evening of this session and there were 20 mph winds on the beach. The wind cooled us off and made for lovely motion in the images. The private beach location is just a lovely place for photos and for my client, it was a location that had significance to her.
I just love this session. The family was so friendly and sweet to work with. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet and work with them during their family vacation. Here are a few of my favorites from their session.
