Classic and Timeless In Home Newborn Session
I photographed this family last year for their son’s first birthday photo session. Since that time, they have welcomed a little girl to their family and I had the honor of photographing them agin for an in home newborn session. It is always an honor to document my clients families as they grow and I was thrilled to be able to photograph this special time for this sweet family.
Because the session took place in the home of my client’s in laws, the session had more of a traditional approach to newborn family photography as opposed to a lifestyle approach. Every session is unique and every client has individual goals for their session. I am always happy to tailor the session to the needs of my clients.
We started the session with some simple posed portraits of the baby in a classic moses basket. Mom dressed Miss J in an adorable muted pink knit jumper and I used layers of textured swaddles and blankets within the basket to give the image dimension and visual interest. The moses basket is one of my favorite items to use in a session for semi propped images of a newborn. The images are timeless and classic.
Next, it was time to capture big brother with his little sister. Because he is only a little over a year himself and on the go, we opted to go with images of him holding the basket instead of the baby. I also captured some images of him peeking in at baby sister while she rested in her vintage bassinet, which has been in the family for generations.
It was an extremely warm October afternoon, so we took advantage of the weather and made our way outdoors for some family photos. I still can’t get over how warm it was on this Fall day. We made sure to bundle the baby up in some textured blankets and a bonnet to keep her extra cozy and we snapped family photos in the gorgeous yard.
Here are some of my favorites from the day.
