Motherhood Session at the Beach Club
Moms….I can’t stress to you enough how important it is to get in the frame with your children. Amongst our many roles as mothers, one is the documentarian of the household, which means that there are very few photos of YOU in them. We are such an important part of our children’s lives, yet we often have very little photographic evidence of that relationship. A motherhood or family session can finally give you those photos with your children that you will both cherish for years to come.
This recent session was scheduled on a beautiful September evening. Originally the session was going to only include the children because my client’s husband was stuck at work, but I encouraged mom to get in the frame for a few photos with the kids. Even though she wouldn’t use those photos for her holiday cards, she would still have them to document this precious stage in life with her children.
It was such a gorgeous day. The weather looked like it would be cloudy at sunset, so we moved the start time of the session up slightly to accommodate the weather. I love that the sky was only slightly overcast and that I was able to capture the beautiful bold blue sky during the session. The kids had a blast during the session climbing the dunes, sand hills and playing in the water. I love to capture images of children that are dramatic and really capture the essence of childhood, so this location was perfect for that. Of course, I snuck in a few traditional photos, but my favorites are the interactive images. Photos of children do not always have to be with big cheesy smiles, sometimes the more serious images are the ones that capture their true personalities. It is important to not get caught up in trying to coax your kids to look at the camera for the full 60 minutes of the session time. In fact, my client said she preferred those type of images.
These two cuties had big personalities and were so fun to work with. I just love their collection of images. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
