A Proposal at Sunset | Long Island Engagement Photographer

This recent surprise proposal session is about as romantic as it gets. It took place on a gorgeous beach on one of the most gorgeous Summer evenings during a spectacular sunset. My client was out east with his girlfriend. He spent the day on the beach with her, took her out for a beautiful dinner and they ended the evening with a walk along a gorgeous beach with a natural and unblemished shoreline during sunset. However, unbeknownst to his girlfriend, their evening stroll was prearranged and coordinated by both my client and myself.

As much as I love to capture this very special moment for couples, I also enjoy being a part of the planning process of proposals and helping my clients to choose a location that suits their needs, allows for some privacy and, of course, provides a beautiful and scenic backdrop for their photos. This session checks off all of those boxes.

Although the beach was slightly more crowded than it usually is, we were still able to find a spot nestled away from the dozen or so people on the beach that evening. The private location along the large rocks was the perfect spot for my client to ask the big question. I was able to capture the entire moment a few feet away while blending in with the other beach goers.

After she said yes, I spent some time capturing some portraits of the newly engaged couple. I always love these photos because the joy and emotion is always so evident in the images. There truly is no time quite as exciting and special as those first moments after you get engaged and I am always honored to capture them for my clients.

The proposal was so sweet and I love how surprised and filled with emotion my client’s girlfriend was. She truly was shocked and elated. It was so moving. It was a beautiful and memorable evening with a lovely couple. Here are some of my favorites from their session.
